Who, what, and why?

HI, Martin here - founder of Bass Coast Technology Solutions. I built this business to bring straightforward, reliable, and friendly IT support to homes and small businesses across Wonthaggi and the Bass Coast. Technology should make life easier, but when Wi-Fi drops, a computer slows down, or a smart device refuses to connect, it quickly becomes frustrating. My goal is simple: fix the problem properly and explain what happened in plain English, without the technical jargon. ​I’ve always had a passion for technology, but my career actually began in the electrical trade. I started out as an apprentice electrician and spent two years working as an A-Grade Sparky. Working on jobsites gave me a solid, practical foundation—teaching me how to plan infrastructure, pull cabling, fix complex electrical faults, and work safely around live systems. ​When COVID-19 hit, I unfortunately lost my job, a challenging moment that turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It gave me the perfect opportunity to turn my lifelong interest in tech into a full-time career. I enrolled at Chisholm TAFE to study Cyber Security and Digital Technology, earning formal qualifications while diving headfirst into enterprise systems administration, network engineering, and cybersecurity. ​Looking back, fate led me exactly where I was meant to be. Combining hands-on trade experience with formal IT training gives me a unique edge in managing infrastructure from the ground up. Having spent years managing enterprise cloud systems and networks for corporate, healthcare, and government clients, I now bring that same high-level expertise back home to support our local community.
